  4. The OS/2 Corrective Service Facility is a utility that applies fixes (service) 
  5. to the OS/2 operating system and other OS/2 products. 
  6.  
  7. The main window contains a list of products that were found on the system that 
  8. are eligible for service.  Select those products you want to be serviced by 
  9. highlighting the appropriate entries in the Products list.  All eligible 
  10. products are initially selected. 
  11.  
  12. To view the current level(s) of the products on your system, select Current 
  13. from the Levels menu.  To view the new level(s) of the products on the 
  14. corrective service diskettes, select New from the Levels menu. 
  15.  
  16. The service utility updates files in a set of directories associated with each 
  17. selected product.  To view and/or change the set of directories, choose Select 
  18. directories from the Options menu. 
  19.  
  20. Once all selections have been made, select Service from the Options menu to 
  21. start the service process. 
  22.  
  23. You will not be able to terminate the service process after it is started.

  26. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Application in Use ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  28. The Corrective Service program has encountered a file that is in use and cannot 
  29. be updated. 
  30.  
  31. Close the indicated application and select Retry. 
  32.  
  33. If you are unable to close the application, select Reboot You will then be 
  34. prompted to insert Corrective Service Diskette 1 to continue service.

  37. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Updating Files ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  39. The Updating Files window shows the current file being serviced and the 
  40. approximate percentage complete.

  43. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Insert Diskette ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  45. Insert the indicated diskette into drive A.  Then, press Enter or select OK to 
  46. continue.  If there is no diskette in drive A or the wrong diskette is in drive 
  47. A when you select OK, a warning beep will sound and the window will remain up.

  52. Follow the instructions in the Reboot window to continue the service process.

  57. A read-only, hidden, or system file has been encountered that should be 
  58. serviced.

  60. If you do not replace this file your system may not be at the same corrective 
  61. service level.

  66. The service process cannot be interrupted.

  68. Those applications that are being serviced should not be started.

  70. Select Continue to start the service process.

  75. Select OK to cause the indicated file not to be serviced. You should only 
  76. select OK if there is a known reason for not servicing the file.

  81. The indicated file to be serviced has a date later than the new file on the 
  82. corrective service diskettes.

  86. Only select Cancel if there is a known reason why the file should not be

  95. The logfile is a cumulative service history.  You may browse the actions. The 
  96. logfile contains information about the files and products that are being 
  97. updated.  The end of the file contains the most recent actions and may contain 
  98. error messages.

  100. Select Cancel to return to the error window.

  103. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 11. Current Service Levels ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  105. The Current Service Levels window shows the current levels of all the OS/2 
  106. products on your system that have Syslevel files.

  108. The products listed above the separator are serviceable.

  110. You may copy text to the system clipboard by selecting the desired text and 
  111. then selecting Copy.

  113. You may browse the list.

  116. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12. New Service Levels ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  118. The New Service Levels window shows the levels of the products on the 
  119. corrective service diskettes.  The corresponding products on your system will 
  120. be updated to this (these) level(s) if Service is selected from the Options 
  121. menu.

  136. Depending on the error, an Exit button may be displayed.  If this button is

  203. The Corrective Service program has encountered an Access Control List (ACL) 
  204. protected file and cannot be updated.

  206. Exit Corrective Service Facility, and contact your system administrator for 
  207. more information.  Corrective Service Facility will not be able to update your 
  208. system until the ACL protected file has been released.

  213. The indicated drive does not contain any files to update.
